The little kid was just hungry.
I used to run 8 kilometres every day along the beach.
At high tide it was like running through quicksand.
At every step I'd sink 5-6 inches into the soft sand.
Ended up with calf muscles so big I couldn't put on my jeans.
Now, I can barely hobble to the shop and back.
Walking around table is an option only if you can’t reach across the table.

Many, many years ago I tried jogging on the beach, and, aside from the inconvenience that the wind kept making my cigarette go out, I can vouch for it being tough on the legs, especially the calves. Today, I huff and puff after just trying to walk 30 or 40 feet from the public parking lot through the sand down to the surf.
There is a Queenslander called Kae who had a blog 12 years ago called 'bloodnut' (redhead) and she just mentioned something from those days (on Catallaxy Files), which rang a bell for me. When I searched her old blog I found a comment by wronwright. Also some by Skeeter, and maybe others here under different names.

I remember Kae. I used to have her blog on my blog roll, but she stopped blogging regularly so I removed it. I've even corresponded with her via email a time or two. She was a frequent commenter at Tim Blair's last independent blog. Always liked her.
