Jimmy Bryant and Speedy West combine on “This Ain't the Blues”.
Bonus video! Henry D. Haynes and Kenneth C. Burns (respectively, Homer and Jethro) were a country-music team that specialized in comic songs. Here's a little number from the old Jimmy Dean Show called “Movin' On”.
I enjoyed that. The 'ripped a stitch when he hit the ditch' song, and trying to pick the Telecaster electric guitar sound from the steel guitar in the first number (It's a Tele in the pic anyways).
ReplyDeleteYeah, there was a passage or two in the first one where the notes could have come from either instrument.
ReplyDeleteI liked Homer's mandolin picking, too. He was a good string man, on top of being a musical comic.
Woops! I meant Jethro's (Kenneth Burns') mandolin playing. Got the boys confused there for a second.
ReplyDeleteYes the mandolin solos are great, way better than Led Zeppelin!
