Mitch McConnell throws hat in ring

Many GOPe-types are aspirants for the role of Marshal Petain in the coming fascist government, but Myrtle the Turtle could be hard to beat: "GOP Majority Leader Mitch McConnell: Capitol 'Insurrectionists' were 'Provoked by the President and Other Powerful People'”.

Cozying up to the usurper will not save you, Mitch.

The Turd-ill signalling that he and the other Roll Over Party Senators will throw Trump under the bus. I am so finished with the Roll Over Party. No more holding my nose and voting for an ROP candidate because they are less bad than their opponent. Better to let the Left destroy the current system so that a new one can be rebuilt on the ashes of the old.

Justice foe Ashli Babbitt!

I'm with you. We've just been enabling the gutless-wing of the GOP, thus putting off the day of reckoning. The day of reckoning has come, at last, and the GOP (Gutless Old Pussies) need to be swept out of the way.

I know it's pretty much a symbolic gesture but after being a registered Republican since 1968 I have changed my affiliation to "Independent". And to think that I actually donated to the McConnell campaign a few years ago--what was I thinking?

Don't beat yourself up, man. I am totally blown away by the depth and extent of the betrayal by the Republican Party (and by many so-called conservatives). I knew the GOPe was unreliable and full of jellyfish, but I simply did not know, even as recently as a couple of years ago, how thoroughly rotten the whole "right-of-center" edifice was. I, too, went independent a while back.

I've been independent for quite a while.

In fact, I have received very little junk mail from the eGOP for years, after I sent in a contribution envelope, without money, but with a letter to the then chairman (I forget who), pretty telling him that his party has to grow a spine before they see a single dollar from me again.

That should have clued me in.

I used to think McConnell and Graham were members of the Democratic party and was genuinely surprised to hear they are "Republicans".
Now I see them as proof of the Uniparty.

That's right. There are several types of toppings and condiments, but it's the same shit sandwich stand.
