Ain't that the truth!

Picked up a Yugoslavian Mauser today, in excellent condition. If it ever stops raining, maybe I can actually take it out to the range. I purchased it mainly to have something to put my 8mm Mauser ammo through. As I've mentioned before, many years ago Old Paco gave me a rifle from WWII, which, for a long time, I assumed was a Mauser;  it came with 500 rounds of 8mm Mauser ammo, it has a tiny Nazi eagle on the barrel, and it's a bolt action, so, must be a Mauser, right? I shot it from time to time, but discovered a few years ago that it isn't a Mauser at all, but a G98/40, which is rare and collectible - in which case, I don't want to shoot it too often (although it's a sweet rifle, the most accurate one I possess). So, now, I have a garden variety Mauser-type rifle that I can shoot as frequently as I like (until the ammo runs out).

  1. I got one of those from Mitchell's Mauser 15 years ago. I like it.
I got Turkish bandoliers for $15 per 80 back then too.
Now I've seen the same thing for like $70.

  2. I'd like to get a sling. I wonder if a K98 sling would work if I can't find one specifically for a Yugo Mauser?

  3. I got a 'made in Germany 1944' Mauser from them too. Wermacht, not nazi markings.
It was from the Russians, so beat up and not matching numbers. It came without a sling but they sent me a Mosin sling. That worked.
I like that one. From its provenance, I figure it was used to kill commies til its nazi owner was killed and then it was used it kill nazis.
