I have a feeling this is not The Way

Actress Gina Carano has been fired by Disney because Disney apparently finds free speech controversial. Also, the jackals of social media ginned up a charge of anti-Semitism against her that is utterly bogus, as Andrea Widburg explains.

Well, there's another television program I'm done with. I liked the premise of the show - The Mandelorian is essentially a space western - but Disney has developed a reverse Midas touch, and everything the company touches these days turns to crap, so the decline of the series is only a matter of time, especially with Disney playing at being thought police.

In other news of progressive feel-goodism, Aunt Jemima has been forced into retirement.

In their desperation to find racism against favored blacks, the PC police have proclaimed that brand name icons like Aunt Jemima, Uncle Ben, and the Cream of Wheat chef are somehow offensive. All have been canceled. Now Quaker Oats/PepsiCo has announced the replacement name for Aunt Jemima: Pearl Milling Company.
What could be whiter than a pearl?

To be truly equitable, the Quaker Oats guy should be retired, as well, but I'm thinking that, with that long hair, he arguably comes across as transgender, so they'll probably leave him/her be.

  1. I read a "news" article about her getting canned.
All they said was that she had made "anti-semitic" comments when talking about how now is like 30s Germany.
I knew it was a load of crap, I figured it was actually 'anti-our-betters'.
    Sure enough.

  2. The charge of anti-Semitism is so completely b.s., I'm wondering if she doesn't have a defamation case to make in there, somewhere. Anyhow, this is indicative of the odiousness of the cancel culture. I'm sure NRO and the Dispatch are all over it.

  3. I guess making anti-Nazi posts is now the same thing as being anti-Semitic.

I don't have Disney Plus and have no intention of getting it, so I'm not watching "The Mandalorian". I thought it would probably show up on cable in a few years, but since cable is dying, probably not. Also, I'm sick and tired of the Baby Yoda meme.

  4. The Quaker Oats guy looks like Rachel Levine if you squint in a semi-darkened room, so he's safe.

  5. Not upset about the Aunt Jemima thing - that stuff is crap food.

"Nutrition Information": INGREDIENTS: CORN SYRUP, HIGH FRUCTOSE CORN SYRUP, WATER, CELLULOSE GUM, CARAMEL COLOR, SALT, NATURAL AND ARTIFICIAL FLAVOR, SODIUM BENZOATE AND SORBIC ACID (PRESERVATIVES), SODIUM HEXAMETAPHOSPHATE.

Where I'm from (New England, currently Maine) you can get the real thing for short money. No High Fructose Corn Syrup.

  6. Steve: I'm sure not going to argue the quality of grocery store syrup with someone from New England!

  7. In my part of the country, a quart of maple syrup costs $8, a jug of colored sugar water is about $2.
I have both in my house right now, I save the maple for certain things, I use the sugary water for when I'm hungry at night and whip up some instant flapjacks.

Vinegar is ridiculously expensive here too. It's literally twice what it is in NY. A $2 bottle of red wine vinegar is 4$+ here, and forget about balsamic.
But bottled water is ridiculously cheap in the desert. You can get a 24 pack of 12 ounce bottles for like $3-$4.

  8. I use regular Great Value syrup on pancakes. We have some genuine maple syrup, but Mrs. Paco uses that in one of her bread recipes.

Gregory: I thought the same thing, but, for the life of me, I couldn't remember the guy's (girl's?) name. Thanks for refreshing my memory.

Well, that makes sense, considering Soros is a JINO ("Jew In Name Only") as well as a Nazi collaborator.

Can't be dissing the left's bank roll, after all.
