Just right for making platypus fritters!
"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Mmmmmm...platypus fritters.
ReplyDeleteNO! Not the platypuses! Those unique cute characters. Perish the thought of makking them into fritters. Go pick on the salties, not the cuties.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, I think the plural of platypus is platy-pie, another excellent culinary treat.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the Internet rules you have to make an error when correcting someone else's error.
DeletePlatypi.
Thank you. In my brief research, the generally accepted plural is platypuses, although Latinist use platypie or platypi. I figure that as long as the intention is understood, then the goal of communication is achieved. That's the objective afterall.
DeleteTastes like a cross between duck and beaver.
ReplyDeleteDeborah, like nearly every animal in Oz, except possibly some of the sheep (probably because they are not indigenous), the platypus has a venomous stinger. Actually, a venomous spur on the hind feet.
ReplyDeleteI think the drop bear is non-venomous. As though that's any consolation when it shreds you with its six inch talons. And crushes your skull in its mandibles of doom.
A venomous stinger wouldn't stop a true gourmet. Think Fugu.
DeleteDuckbill l'orange! With a side order of scrambled echidna eggs. Yum!
ReplyDeleteI think drop bear cubs are supposed to be kinda cute, though, aren't they?
Yes, Paco, drop bear cubs are very cute but they keep climbing out of the soup saucepans, with attitudes.
ReplyDeleteI can see how that sort of thing might not favorably dispose the beasts toward humans.
ReplyDeleteAs a Boy, I would sit quietly by the creek, thinking.
ReplyDeleteIn the gloaming they would emerge and play.
Wonderful memories, they knew me and trusted me.
Wind in the willows, lucky child. Platypus
Uncle Ron from Australia.
Australians are a tough breed. They use the venomous stingers to pick their teeth.
ReplyDeleteReading all this made me hungry. I think I need a sandwich.
