More like Ornette Coleman I thought.
ReplyDeleteCraziest thing we have around here are the Lyre Birds, whose imitative calls sound like movie sound effects. Including the sound of hammering nails in a tin roof, which seems to be a local favorite for them.
Do they change their song like Humpback whales do?

ReplyDeleteAlmost as much fun as machine gun fire, eh, Bruce?
Wow, what a neat site. Maybe that will be my go-to when I start feeling like putting my fist through my laptop.
ReplyDeleteActually Jeffs that's my guess, but these birds are doing a 'pew pew pew' metallic sound which could be anything.

Yeah they imitate stuff, not sure how often they change it. I've heard of birds outside clarinet players houses exactly mimicking clarinet sounds when the player was practicing.
ReplyDeleteHearing metallic 'pew pew pew' way out in the bush can be a bit unsettling at first when you're not sure what it is (Should I take cover?).
Whales eh? I did not know that.
