A blast from my past
I happened to stumble across this video not long ago and was quite fascinated because I remember actually seeing this episode of "To Tell the Truth" on TV back when I was in, I guess, the second or third grade. It was particularly interesting, to me, as it featured a Polish defector who had been sentenced to death in absentia; and the twists at the end were amusing. The video quality is suboptimal, but the clip is still worth watching.

I don't remember this particular episode, but I was a fan of To Tell the Truth, and remember the panelists well. I laughed at the end, when they unveiled the imposters. :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat forcefully jogged my memory when I saw this clip was "Khrushchev". I recall being astonished when, as a kid, I saw this gentleman.
ReplyDeleteI just looked it up, and this aired in Feb. 1963, so I would have been 9 1/2 yo. I probably knew of Khrushchev, but not sure I would have recognized the resemblance in this imposter.
ReplyDeleteI think #3 being Henry Morgan would have surprised a young me, more than the Khrushchev look a like. And, I'm not sure I would have got the joke when Art James banged his shoe on the desk, but it was funny watching it now.
HAW! That was a good show!
ReplyDeleteI don't recall watching this segment, but, then, my favorite TV show in that era was "You Asked For It!"
And Saturday morning cartoons.
I never saw "You Asked for It" when I was a kid, but I went back and looked at a couple of episodes today on YouTube; pretty cool.
