Why, it's enough to turn a bloke into a bushranger

So is Oz still a prison colony, or what? I thought that was all over and done with.

I shouldn't talk... it's only a matter of time before Biden offers the American colonies back to the British Crown.

Kinda scary yet pretty horrifyingly hilarious video accompaniment to a speech by the prime minister

Australia is a great example of why we need to keep our guns.

It's a power grab by the various state police forces, for sure. They've been extending their role for a while now, for all kinds of 'emergencies'. They're obviously overfunded, see how many in that swarm. Their wages and benefits could fund new medics.

Also they didn't wait to be called, they took on the role of defending 'science' from day one and even drafted the laws. Bureaucratic over-reach and empire building becomes a police state.

I know that spot in the video, Melbourne, St Kilda beach amusement park just behind. My kids rode on that roller-coaster in 1999.

The full 15-minute video of that encounter is very instructive.
He's actually got a cigarette in his mouth when they tackle him.

Under the health orders where he is, it is allowable to remove a mask to smoke.

The cops later in the video say how they disagree with the draconian nature of the health orders & how they're really in sympathy with the citizenry, and there's a very large number of them in an encrypted online group discussing how they really are opposed to what their superiors are ordering them to do.

Sure thing you coppers - you could have walked past someone who was smoking. You could even have phoned in sick. You could discuss all this in your encrypted group.

Instead you turn up to work & go out of your way to crash tackle someone who arguably was not in any breach of health orders.

You coppers can do it with speeding fines - a quick google of "Victoria Police to teach government a lesson by not issuing speeding fines" (or somesuch) reveals they know how to not enforce orders.

They're 200% on board with bashing the citizenry.

Has it got to do with these cops moving around in a large group? effectively a street gang.

They used to patrol in pairs, and that required skill and tact.

But a gang has its own dynamic - egging each other on, one member goes too far and the rest follow.
