One ship many years ago, the captain got into a drunken tirade against one of the Able Seamen on liberty. One of the memorable statements he made was "When I finish with you, you'll be lucky to sign aboard a Greek Vaseline tanker!"
About a year later a friend told me that he'd seen a ship named "Asapopolous" during the midwatch, and speculated that it might be the very Greek Vaseline tanker of note.
Our last cruise was several years ago and I have plans to take one more before I die (Alaska), but all these cruise ship sinkings and fires lately are giving me pause.
