Not long ago, I said that Nina Jankowicz, our new Minister of Truthiness, put me in mind of Dick Shawn's hippie Hitler character in The Producers.
Somebody more skillful in such things than I has memed it (via Powerline).
I don't know the names of the other people on the Disinformation Governance Board, but Paco World News Daily (PWND) did manage to surreptitiously take a group photo.
Btw, I'm thinking of putting together a People's Anti-Censorship Organization. How 'bout it: any of y'all want to be board members?
"You know you can count on us, Cap'n Paco!"
Update Friend and commenter R-Man asks, in the comments, whether agents of the People's Anti-Censorship Organization will have badges. I rummaged around in the closet and found a handful of these...
...and a couple of these...
I'd love to be a PACO agent!
ReplyDeleteDo we get a cool badge? If not, that would be okay too because then we would get to say "Badges? We don't need no stinkin' badges!"
That's a great meme (and I stole it), but being the resident nitpicker, I'm certain they captured that from the 2005 remake.
ReplyDeleteI really prefer <a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wvM_JpqViBA>the 1968 production</a>. Mel Brooks has a great sense of style of humor ......
Could be, I'm not at all familiar with the remake. The original, of course, is very funny. I still chuckle when I recall the scene where Mostel and Wilder are discussing the casting of Hitler, and the camera cuts to a room filled with would-be Hitler try-outs, shooting their arms up in the Fascist salute, and creating a boisterous cacophony of "Sieg Heils".
ReplyDeleteLove those badges! Someone flashing those would definitely have my attention....
ReplyDeleteNathan Lane as Max Bialystock Matthew Broderick as Leo Bloom Uma Thurman as Ulla Will Ferrell as Franz Liebkind …
ReplyDeletedefinitely a poor imitation .
Throw in a badge (doesn't matter what it says) and a long-barrel, and I'm in.
ReplyDeleteOh yeah, Zero Mostel at his insane best, Dick Shawn off the scale, Kenneth Mars, Gene Wilder, it can not be bettered. Nor Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins for that matter. Those folks brought something special.
