Classical corner

Melissa Venema plays the hauntingly beautiful Il Silenzio, an instrumental piece written in 1965 to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands (background here). I don't know if the resemblance to Taps in the first few bars is deliberate or not, but the tune quickly moves in another direction.

It is beautiful, and I'd say the tribute to Taps is deliberate, to honor those who sacrificed for the liberation of The Netherlands (Holland) and Europe.
