"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Ah, the Grand Canyon Suite. It brings back fond memories. Mr. Grofe deftly captured essences of the canyon. His work enhances the imagination of people who had never visited the park, except in pictures, and brings a flood of memories for those who had.
ReplyDeleteGrofe was also orchestrated Gershwin's Rapsody in Blue prior to the premier in 1924. (Wikipedia)
Yes, I was reading about Grofe the other day, and was surprised to learn that he was the person who orchestrated Rhapsody in Blue, which is the most popular version that has come down to us.
