Ferde Grofé's "Cloudburst" (from Grand Canyon Suite).

  1. Ah, the Grand Canyon Suite. It brings back fond memories. Mr. Grofe deftly captured essences of the canyon. His work enhances the imagination of people who had never visited the park, except in pictures, and brings a flood of memories for those who had.

Grofe was also orchestrated Gershwin's Rapsody in Blue prior to the premier in 1924. (Wikipedia)

  2. Yes, I was reading about Grofe the other day, and was surprised to learn that he was the person who orchestrated Rhapsody in Blue, which is the most popular version that has come down to us.
