I dunno...

Does Medicare cover this, or am I going to get a bill from Kohler? "This Futuristic Toilet Sensor Reads Your Pee to Measure Health".

Oh, and watch for the continuing corruption of the English language: "The second is made for people [emphasis mine - Paco] who want to better track their menstrual cycles, by measuring surges of LH, or luteinizing hormone." Not "women", but "people", because, as we all know, men can have menstrual cycles, too.

  2. To use it, Withings says the device works best if you attach it to the front of your toilet bowl (which means people who normally pee standing up might also have to sit, or at least get creative).

As men generally pee standing up (women can, but I'm told that's the exception, not the rule), I will "get creative" by not buying this contraption.

In other words ... ... pi$$ on Withings.

Rebecca, I'm betting there's a clause in the user's agreement for the data to be recorded and shared by the company. So-called "smart" watches that collect bio-metric data are handled that way.

Theoretically, it's been anonymized before being shared. But I don't really care. That's why I didn't replace my Fitbit when it finally died.

  4. So we're worried about who our toilet will report to.

The 21st century is not just stupid, it's scary and evil.

  5. One of our toilets canceled me last week. But we finally got it unclogged.

  6. A lot of things are better left dumb, not 'smart'. And I think toilets are on that list of dumb things.

As men generally pee standing up...

That's probably mostly men who don't have to clean their own toilet. When I moved into a dorm, and had to share (and clean) a bathroom with three other guys with poor aim, I decided it was better to sit, and keep it clean; than to stand, and mop the floor.

  7. My water saving toilet needs a physical wipedown after almost every use, if you know what I mean. I don't care who that reports to, I hope they get a video, so they can puke as much as I do.

    An act of revenge?
