Sunday funnies

"Let's see...You have tacos today...but no Pacos?"

Man, this is the first and last time I'm going to try to pull a brontosaurus out of the ditch.

Cats love popcorn, but they can't stand the suspense.

Does Berlitz have a course in Scottish English?

Groucho the hotel clerk.

The Middle is a television series that ran from 2009 to 2018 on ABC, and I never knew of its existence until recently, when I stumbled across it by accident (most likely because I abandoned the big three networks decades ago). It's about a lower-middle-class family in Indiana and their day-to-day struggles, their many failures and their occasional triumphs. Here's a typical dinner experience featuring the Heck family.

  2. No Far Side this week, but you do have Groucho, so that's a bonus.

As to the show The Middle, I knew of it, but never watched it because I assumed it would be some woke screen writer's warped version of where I'm from. And judging from this short clip it was also not funny, and was painfully, horribly acted. So, I guess I didn't miss much.

  3. Patricia Heaton who plays the mum (mom) on The Middle seems to be very popular here as her previous sitcom with Ray Romano and this one get hours of replays every weekday on free to air TV. Like 2 hours of back to back episodes every night, rotated on endless repeats.

Ny theory is it's because she looks and acts very Mediterranean, like lots of Italian or Lebanese women here, and so seems very familiar, either as someone's mother or some girl we went to school with. Of course first appearing as Ray Romano's wife in his show helped that impression.

  6. Ah, old fashioned comedy! Groucho did it best.

  7. Okay, I laughed out loud at the taco/Paco one. As for the Scottish one, I watch a lot of British TV and movies, and I really wish they would include closed captioning for the Scottish actors.

  8. BTW, Candace Owens offers the best response to the Harry/Megan fiasco, in the clip link below, near the end.

Alas, she include a brief view of "The View", but you can fast forward over those vultures.

  9. To each his own, Paco. At least we seem to agree on Groucho Marx. I may have mentioned this before, but during the CB radio craze in the late 70's, my CB radio handle was Groucho. :-)
