Happy Feet Friday

Astrud Gilberto, who is best known for her recording of "The Girl from Ipanema", was, along with  Stan Getz,  Antônio Carlos Jobim, and her then-husband João Gilberto, responsible for popularizing the bossa nova style of Brazilian music in the U.S. Sadly, she passed away on June 5th of this year, at the age of 83.

Here she is, singing the lovely ballad, "Corcovado".

  1. I enjoyed her voice, and presence. She classic, sultry, and soothing. God bless.

  2. One interesting thing about her singing, as pointed out by a commenter on one of the Youtube videos of Ms. Gilberto, is that there is little or no vibrato; when she holds a note, it's just one, pure tone.
