My mother told me about the Pepsi ads... she once sang me the jingle:

    "Pepsi-Cola hits the spot
Twelve whole ounces, that's a lot!
    Every serving that you pour
Costs a nickel, not a penny more!"

  2. Kooba Cola. Heh!

I wonder what became of Fox. Word gets around in businesses, even back then.

  3. Too bad. It might have been a big seller in Kooba...I mean, Cuba.

  4. I wonder if the Spider Queen puts the OOBA! into Kooba.

  5. When I was a kid, I'd occasionally take a huge burlap sack and walk along the roads picking up discarded soda bottles. I think they paid out at 2 cents on the bottle (5 cents for the big ones).

  6. When I was a kid in Texas, the big sellers were Coca Cola and RC, followed by Nehi (which offered a chocolate drink as well as the soda). We called all of it "coke". There was Dr. Pepper too, but it was always called Dr. Pepper because it was a Waco, Texas thing. We also had root beer, but I don't think I ever saw it associated with A&W until I was an adult and went north.
