There is no lie Dirty Old Joe won't tell if he thinks it makes him look good. His problem is, it makes him look exactly like what he is: an unregenerate liar.
He's a complete moron, now; I think, in spite of attempts by the media to shore up his image, he's finally become a net liability to the Democrats. Just watch. He's going to get slapped by some woman he tries to fondle, or get his nose stuck in a teenager's hair extensions. Or - GOD FORBID, OF COURSE - pull a James Dean in his Corvette.
