"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
I've always admired and envied wood artists for their skills and clever ideas. None of my stuff could ever pass muster (and I never tried large pieces. In fact, since my husband passed away, I just gave away a bag full of chisels which I know I'll never use again. Likewise with my polymer clay stuff. Maybe the creative urge will come back, but for now, nada.
ReplyDeleteI remember when I was in my teens, an artist carved a huge statue of Sir Walter Raleigh out of cypress wood. He worked on the statue in the old North Hills Mall (long defunct), and I would stop and watch him work on it for a few minutes whenever I was in the mall. Sadly, the statue had an unhappy end. Interestingly, it was the largest moveable wooden sculpture in the world - while it lasted.
