And now, a word from our sponsor

  1. I think I'd take the 1939 Continental, based on looks!

  2. I think the Continentals manufactured up through 1948 are among the most beautiful luxury cars ever. I saw a 1947 at a classic car show in Richmond, VA one time: burgundy, with tan leather seats and convertible top. The owner had restored it, himself, and had an album of photographs showing what the car looked like when he bought it, and various pictures of the restoration job through completion. To the untrained eye, the original car looked like it was hardly more than scrap; but this man saw its potential and brought it back from the dead. A remarkable achievement anybody could have taken great pride in.

  3. Doing something like that requires an insane amount of work and time. I did what I would call a "quick" restoration of a 1967 Alfa Romeo Super that I had bought, back in the 1980s. Just rebuilt the engine, and some other repairs, and then painted it. It really needed a lot more, but I for some reason had lost my initial desire to do a full restoration.

Did I mention it takes a lot of perseverance, too? :-)
