Happy Feet Friday

Joyce Green's man must have messed up pretty badly to trigger this kind of wrath: "Black Cadillac".

  1. I had to look up the guitarist - Tommy Holder. I'm a sucker for guitar playing like the intro on this track. He hits all the right notes and then goes further, wow.

The song is a real foot-tapper. The reason the style was called 'rock' in the first place is because that's what it makes you do!

  2. Thanks for the info, Bruce. Yeah, that's some good guitar, and the rippling piano in the background adds some "oomph!" Unfortunately, I can't find anything about Tommy Holder on the internet.

  3. Holder's name was given on Joyce Green's Wikipedia page. I searched 'Tommy Holder guitar'.

Google shows this bit of text:
'A True Classic, by, Tommy Holder, Former Lead Guitar Player, For Conway Twittie, Tommy visited the,Front Porch Gang, to tape a couple shows....'

Referring to the song 'Kansas City' on this page which for some reason doesn't show the full quote:

Lead guitar for Conway Twitty seems to fit - he'd only hire the best.

Then also on Google it has an obit for a 'George "Tommy" Holder', guitarist and repair man of Iowa?, who may be the same guy.

  4. Oh wait, I clicked the 3 dots and now I get the full info:
'Tommy drives down from Illanois to visit His Buddie,Carl Herrell, our Banjo Picker,And help tape some Front Porch Pickin Radio Shows, Tommy has worked with Bands all over, Including Conway Twitties, will not try to list any more, here, many of you listeners have likely attended a concert where Tommy was picking a super Guitar, a True Pro from way back.
    Lyrics
Seems everyone has heard Kansas City, so I will not try and include the Lyrics here. Just turn it on, And enjoy Tommys Version, never heard it performed any better,'
