"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Oh yeah. And then there was Annie Greensprings. Both those seemed most popular among young women for whatever reason... well, okay, any young heterosexual male would definitely balk at something like that.
ReplyDeleteThere is a winery on Bainbridge Island, WA, that would produce a very limited run of strawberry wine every year. This was made entirely from strawberries though, and not a grape wine flavored with them. Maybe they still do, but it was not readily available - I used to visit the winery and buy a few bottle directky. Very nice on a warm day.

ReplyDeleteIt must have taken them a while to decide that. When I went off to college in 1971, it seemed to be popular among the guys in my dorm. I think it was new on the market then, so maybe it hadn't earned a bad name among young, straight guys. They actually convinced me that it had hardly any alcohol, so I finally tasted it. It still had enough alcohol that I could taste it, so that was the only time. Alcohol is not for me. Can't stand it.
Boone's Farm Strawberry Hill. Thanks for that nauseating memory of my young college days. It brought up memories of Almaden pink champagne and MadDog 2020 too. I'm off to get some Tums.
ReplyDeleteMadDog 2020. Boy, that brings back no memories whatsoever. Unfortunately, I have friends who remember.
