Sweet ride

When Mrs. Paco and I got married in 1978, Old Paco gave us a 12-year-old Chevrolet Biscayne as a wedding gift. It was a reliable, durable car - until the engine blew up a couple of years later.

It was definitely was not this Chevrolet Biscayne.

Btw, what a stupid idea it was to scrap the concept cars instead of donating them to museums, or auctioning them off.

  1. Chrysler scrapped nearly all of their prototype gas turbine cars from the Sixties. They kept, I think, two of them, a handful exist in museums and I believe Jay Leno is the sole private owner of one.

  2. I've seen videos of that car. Ultra cool!

  3. If I remember right, Leno's car is one of only ones that is still driveable. And it took a lot of work to get it that way.

Yeah, there's been a lot of things I've gotten rid of that seemed like a good idea at the time. And now I wish I still had it.

  4. Not just cars that get the treatment. The Catalinas flown by the RAAF on the Double Sunrise missions were all scrapped, despite their history making contribution in WW2.
