I think I've asked this before, but, are they liberals because they're crazy, or are they crazy because they're liberals.

DeleteWhenever somebody trots out that old chestnut about not judging a book by its cover, I always think why not? The publisher, editor, and author all worked hard on that cover, hoping to elicit a favorable response.
ReplyDeleteMost of the time, people present the image they want to present. Sometimes they become angry when you react to that presentation.

I've always wrestled with how to punctuate Why Indeed. Or Why not Indeed.
DeleteI just saw it somewhere a couple days ago and have finally settled on "Why? Indeed." or "Why not? Indeed." in this case.

I can't say that I've ever wrestled with this issue, since, I think, this is probably the first time I've ever written the phrase. And I'm certainly not going to write it again. Too complicated, too much can go wrong.
