My question, these days, is whether teachers' unions do anything but undermine education

"Chicago Teachers Union Focused on Protesting 'War in Venezuela' for Some Reason".

Over the weekend, the Chicago Teachers Union announced an ’emergency protest’ for ‘no war on Venezuela.’ If you’re wondering what this has to do with teaching kids how to read and do math, you’re not alone.

  1. When many of your highest paid employees are DEI, grievance studies majors, you can't expect them to care about kids.

  2. Well, this is entirely speculative on my part, but this analysis by DataRepublican might be relevant:

The relevance (such as it is) comes from the likelihood that the Chicago "Teachers" Union is aligned with the "foreign-policy apparatus" described in the article, and they are being mobilized in the effort in the effort to destabilize the United States, and hence Trump's administration.

It seems a reach, but when you add in the inflammatory statements coming out of Minnesota, plus the on-going effort to shut down NGOs, it's a possibility.

  3. We’re undergoing a Leftocaust IMHO, and radical teachers’ unions are logically part of that. The professional left have revved up their organization because they didn’t expect Trump to get reelected, and they surely didn’t expect him to come out roaring like he has. They’re probably thinking that it’s do or die now.
