That’s Interesting….

Most of the Chrysler dealerships being closed are owned by people who donated money to…well, to candidates other than Obama. And by the strangest, most unexpected, completely inexplicable coincidence, a big Democratic donor got to keep all of his dealerships.

Here, incidentally, is a list of the people on the President’s automotive task force (the task force is reportedly the entity that is making the decisions on which dealerships to close).

  1. The upside to this debacle is that Obama (and the Dems) are making some very powerful enemies, left and right. I think the Dem Cong (as Crittenden calls them) will be swept out of power in 2010, and Obama himself may be gone in 2012 (although, if he is hamstrung to helplessness by a Republican Congress, he may be allowed to stay on as President Pretty Boy until 2016, to satisfy his base).

OTOH, Obama is as slimy and unscrupulous as Chicago machine politicians come, so who knows what verging-on-criminal tricks he has up his sleeve?

  3. If this is what he's doing to Chrysler dealers, imagine what we have to look forward to with GM, and all those banks!

BTW, Major Garrett said that GMAC will be the biggest bank in the country by the time Chrysler and GM are restructured.

What is Obama going to do about that rebel outfit known as Ford?

  4. Retread: You know, I've never seriously considered buying a Ford, but I may now (their trucks look pretty cool).

  5. I'd be wary of Chrysler and GM going forward. Full disclosure: I've had a Ford F150 since 2002 and found it very reliable.

Besides the problem of government involvement, buying from Chrysler or GM feels like paying more taxes.

  6. I have a F150 as well, since 2003. It's very reliable indeed.

But I suspect that Obama would prefer everyone buy a GM car. To stimulate the economy.

    Of course. (snort!!)

TW: sinic. Yeah, I'm a cynic. What's it to you, Mr. Computer?

  8. Either way. So long as the unions can die. They're a menace in Australia. How about in the US?

O/T Hillary was just on CNN. Please excuse me for a moment.

  9. I've got a '90 Ford BroncoII. Well over 200K miles, I've had it 5 1/2 years with no trouble whatsoever. It's ugly as homemade mud, with dents and scratches & bad paint...well, it's just ugly. But it runs like a champ, it's paid for, and the insurance is very reasonable. Even though it embarrasses Lovely Daughter half to death, I will drive it till the wheels fall off.

I've had a few Fords ('65 Mustang, '77 Maverick, '98 Escort), which is bizarre, considering what anti-Semites the Great Fords were (it's one reason my grandparents DID buy Fords). Oh well, I buy 'em used, so Ford doesn't get much of my money. Think my next vehicle will be a Jeep or a CRV...but who knows...
