The motto of the Toronto Police Department: To Observe and Neglect

Mark Steyn marvels at the performance of the Toronto police, who stood by idly watching as the usual crowd of nihilists rioted at the G-20 summit, vandalizing shops and burning cars (even police cars).

This is yet another argument for gun ownership. When the government fails to do one of the few things it’s supposed to be good at – maintaining law and order – then citizens are helpless unless they have the means to defend themselves.

That same day Paco, the AP, I suppose to deflect world condemnation OR in sympathy termed it something like accidentially scratching your car.

I thought all this violence was supposed to stop when The Current Occupant took over - because of course, it used to ALL be Bush's fault, since he's stoopid and evil and a Rethuglican and ALL POWERFUL. So what gives? Are the rioters and protesters forgetting what they told the press before, or has the press forgotten? Why is there no mention of it being Bush's fault or even BarryO's fault? Shouldn't the mobs be calm and peaceful and lovey-dovey as they watch the Earth heal and the oceans recede?

Looks like the cops are ineffective and uninformed, too?

It's enough to make one's head hurt...

The barbarians are truly at the gate, and this is nothing short of all out war on our culture.

There are faint rays of hope, Rebecca.

Very faint. But there.

At least in the United States. Canada looks to be falling under the barbarian hordes.

You're right, Jeff, but this, at least, does give me hope.
