And now, a word from our sponsor

I have a Ruger New Model Blackhawk in .41 Magnum. Great gun, built like a tank.

I was thinking that yeah, I have a couple Rugers.

Hmmm... well there's the 10/22 which is mandatory for any American gun owner. I mean, it's part of the basic starter kit. They should be handed out in hospitals to all newborn boys. Then there's the Mini-14, which prior to the explosion of AR variants could have been "America's Rifle." Then there's the Mark IV Hunter in stainless, maybe one of the most beautiful firearms ever. Oh, and the Mark III 22/45 Lightweight. Ah, and the Mk. 77 left handed bolt gun in .30-06, America's Caliber! (along with .22LR and .45 ACP and .38 SPL and .357 Magnum and .44 Magnum and .30-30 and .45-70...)

And the Wrangler. Okay, three of them... one each gray and black Ceracote, and then the 3.75" with wood birdshead grip.

But other than that, I don't really have many Rugers. They're okay I guess.

  2. I'm partial to Rugers, myself. Ma Paco bought Old Paco a Super Blackhawk for his birthday back in the early 70s, and he even carried it on a couple of his raids on illegal stills. He passed it on to me many years ago.

What I'd really like to have is the Ruger Model 44, the 10/22's big brother. Unfortunately, they stopped making them back in the mid-80s, I believe.

  3. I have a 10/22, I got it cuz...
But I hugely prefer my Remington Speedmaster 522.
I got it when I was 14. It has the tube mag.
15 long rifles, 20 shorts and, I think, 17 longs.
I have a speedloader for it. It has 5 or 6 tubes that dump the rounds into the tube.
It has killed a bunch of sqirrels and uncounted army men.
I think the BB Gun Wars killed off all my GI Joes, but that rifle might have finished them off.
I do like the New Model Blackhawk.
    I have a .30 carbine.
It shoots flames, really lights up a dim range. People always come over to see what the heck is going on.

  5. Holy moly!
    I just checked prices.
I got mine for $400 after taxes most of 20 years ag now I see they're $879 MSRP so close to $800 and is "currently unavailable", as is the .41 mag version. They only have .45colt in "limited quantities."
I got it so I'd have a rifle/pistol combo for my M-1 carbine. Which I sold when I was broke. It was a post-war model made from surplus parts. I figured I could replace it buy they've gone up to over $1k anymore.
