Why did we even bother launching a revolution against the British Crown?

When governments can do this crap, liberty becomes a dead letter: "Newsom regulations target lawnmowers, ketchup, toys".

California Gov. Gavin Newsom, fresh off last month’s recall victory, signed a bundle of bills over the weekend that delivered a fresh layer of woke regulations to his allies on the Democratic left.
Included were landmark measures to require ethnic studies for high school graduation; order large retailers to offer gender-neutral children’s products such as toys and toothbrushes; ban restaurants from providing unsolicited single-use condiment packets and utensils; and phase out gas-powered lawnmowers and leaf-blowers.
How did we get to a stage where this kind of stuff is within the government's writ at all? Yes, yes, I know: it's California. So what? This kind of meddlesome officiousness serves as the building blocks of tyranny everywhere, and we see it employed in a hundred ways all over the country - from school boards calling for air strikes by the federales on protesting parents to officially treating the unvaccinated as second-class citizens.

We need to do a more comprehensive job with the next revolution.

    You love children, don't you?

As they're relaxing math requirements they're adding 'hate-whitey' as a requirement.
    Pure evil.

    I do see a thriving, gas-powered-tools-smuggling opportunity.
They'll probably build a wall along the border with Nevada and AZ to combat illegal tools.

  2. If gasoline powered lawn equipment is banned won't all the "migrants" in California be deprived of one of the jobs they are qualified to pursue without training or licensure?

  3. I think maybe the law against the "sale of" gas lawn mowers and leaf blowers will create an expansion of "leasing" equipment, as happened when they put a "luxury tax" on luxury cars.

  4. No more Spiderman or Dora The Explorer toothbrushes? Woke Barbie? Restaurant staff will be breaking Fitbits as they run back and forth for requests for condiment packets and utensils.

Electric gardening equipment is just another thing for gardeners to worry about. If they haven't figured out that the illegals streaming over the open border need jobs, and gardening is low hanging fruit. Heck, Biden will probably give the illegals all the tools. He gave them everything else.

  5. What it will create is a thriving repair/restoration business for existing gas powered lawn equipment. As someone who has been transitioning to battery powered tools for the last few years, I don't think it will be a huge deal to most homeowners. Commercial lawn care people, maybe, but most homeowners will find cordless tools very adequate for their needs.

Lumberjacks might have trouble replacing their huge gas powered chain saws, but maybe they'll make an exception for them.
