When it first happened I assumed that it was because he'd never ridden a bike with toe clips before. But somebody online posted a lot of pics of Biden pedaling with toe clips over the years... so it's even worse. He has used them in the past, but this one time he forgot how to take his feet off the pedals?

Yeah sure, he's as sharp as he ever was! Sharper even! He'll challenge you to a push up contest to prove it!

  2. I don't imagine the Secret Service "lets" Old Joe Burden do anything. He says he's going to do something and if they try to stop him, he probably launches into a toddler-sized tantrum until they just step back in defeat. He doesn't recognize his own frailty, or his mental condition. As far as he's concerned, everything's going to be hunky-dory until the day he keels over for good.

  3. What's the real purpose of toe clips, anyway?

Toe clips let you apply more consistent force to the pedals across the entire range of motion. Obviously not as much on the upstroke as down, but it's something and does give you more consistent power through the stroke. They also keep your feet properly placed on the pedals so you don't get lazy and use the arches or heels which reduces power.

And if you're riding a mountain bike they're useful to keep your feet planted when you go airborne or hit a major bump.

  5. Thanks, Stephen. I was beginning to think that they had been invented just to spill Biden onto the street.

  6. I hate to say it, but when I was a young fit man I did the exact same thing at a red light. My foot got snagged on the clip and down I went.
It really amused those that were lucky enough to see it. I remounted and rode off with my head down, trying and failing miserably to look dignified.
I never thought I'd feel a bit of empathy with the old fool, but there you go.

  7. Yeah, it was mostly sad, to be sure. But also a very small dose of karma.

  8. Evidently somebody inserted "Brandon Falls" into that Google map, and Google promptly erased it. But that spot will forever be known as Brandon Falls to those of us in the know.
