  2. Also the cow. I admit it. I laugh at fart jokes.

  3. As the guy was sliding down the building I thought he'd better have the right pants on. He didn't.
I love Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid. Funny darn movie. I'm surprised more movies aren't made that way.

  4. Rigby (Steve Martin) washing his revolver in the sink reminds me of somebody I knew who had a black powder revolver, in stainless. I asked him why, instead of blued or case hardened, and he said he could just take off the grips and put it in the dishwasher to clean it.

Hmmm. Okay. More palatable than the stories of soldiers pissing down the barrels of their muskets when fouling built up in combat, I suppose.

  5. V: I love the movie, too. It was fun seeing scenes from my favorite old film noir flicks spliced into the spoof, and it was fascinating that the film makers kept the lines from the original movie and managed to work them into the new story.

Stephen: That...might actually not be a bad idea. I'll have to keep that in mind if I ever buy a Ruger Old Army or something similar.

  6. Oh, one other interesting fact about Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid: the musical score was written by the great Miklós Rózsa, who composed music for a number of movies in the film noir genre. In fact, the score for DMDWP was the last one he wrote before his death, and is awesomely "period-correct".

  7. I'm not getting wiser, and I'll never run out of stupid things to do...it's just that my old body is no longer able to do a lot of the stupid things anymore.

  8. Yeah, I think the fall-off in doing stupid things, in my case, is definitely age-related.

  9. It's been a while since I said, "It seemed like a good idea at the time." and even longer since I've said I'd seen this in a cartoon.
    I blame noticing consequences.
It takes a lot of the surprises out of life.
