Here are the backstories on a couple of WWII heroes who became famous actors later in life.
We'll never see their like again. It just puts that squishy crowd in today's Hollywood in perspective.

DeleteSadly, the second story didn't come up. I didn't realize Lee Marvin was buried at Arlington.
ReplyDeleteA friend told me a story about Lee Marvin in his hard drinking Hollywood years. One night he was out drinking with friends. He got plastered, and passed out. They tied him onto the roof of the car, and started home. One of Hollywood's finest pulled them over. They explained, and the officer left them off when they revealed that it was Lee Marvin. I don't remember, but I think the officer escorted them.
