Gone to ground

Will not be posting again until Thursday. Feel free to use the hall. Just empty out the ashtrays and carry the bottles out to the bin on the curb.

  1. Kind of an Instapundit Open Thread?

    Risky business.

  2. Okayyyyyy!
    Someone shared this with me, and I in turn share with you.

    Lloyd Bridges channeling Joe Biden from thirty years ago.

  3. Our next President: Kamala Harris

    The best & brightest woman President, ever!

  4. From the "May you live in interesting times" department: Aaron Sorkin (NYT) says the Democrats should choose Mitt Romney as their Biden replacement.

    I strongly endorse this! And name Liz Chaney as his running mate.

  5. Cheney. We had neighbors named Chaney when I was a kid.

    1. That is a cracker Jeff.
      It's funny that in my twenties I thought Reagan was the enemy of the common man. Now I wish there was someone half as good.

  7. And I'm going to say it ...

    Paco leaves suddenly.

    Biden drops out of the race suddenly.

    Coincidence?

    I think not!

  8. I'd root for Kamala just to know how much it would bother Hillary that the first women POTUS was an even more unlikable version of her.

    Since Paco's gone, I say we wreck up the place!
    Put a Kamala/Hillary! link in every post.

  9. Kamala is only going to be the President if she positions herself for success by calling the Cabinet together, invoking the 25th Amendment and sending it to the Congress for a vote;

    if she does that she cements her legacy as the first womxn president, with lifetime SS protection, a sweet pension, a seat in the front row at Jimmy Carter's eventual funeral and all the sweet speaking fees she can grab;

    if not, she gets nothing, even if she is their Candidate, except for the title of unsuccessful presidential candidate when she loses.

  10. Paco goes on hiatus and all hell breaks loose. I can't wait for the dogfight the Democratic Convention is going to be.

  11. One of the more frequent questions on X is "Where's Joe?"

    He hasn't been seen in corpus since July 17th. References are being made to the movie about the power scramble after Stalin died.

  12. As a follow up ... ...

    Kamala Harris spoke from the White House a few minutes ago, while Biden remains in seclusion:

    She praised him for his “honesty, his integrity, his commitment to his faith and his family, his big heart and his deep love of the country,” and said “we are deeply grateful for his service to the nation.”

    Harris spoke on the South Lawn of the White House for a celebration of NCAA championship teams, filling in for Biden as he recovers from Covid.

    There's no issue with Harris taking Biden's place at the South Lawn event. However, normal protocol would have the president comment at the White House about his decision before the VP does so. And this sounds somewhat like a eulogy for Biden's presidency, too. It's strange.

    Very strange.
