Ma Paco used to make two sweet potato pies at the same time, because she knew I'd eat a whole one at one sitting.

"There are countless horrible things happening all over the world and horrible people prospering, but we must never allow them to disturb our equanimity or deflect us from our sacred duty to sabotage and annoy them whenever possible." -Auberon Waugh
Those strings are why I never liked sweet potatoes -- in my family, that's how they were cooked. I do not know why.
ReplyDeleteBut that pie looks delish!
Ma Paco figured out a tasty way to get you to eat your vegetables. Did she do that with any other veggies, like making one of my favorites: carrot cake? Or sweet corn fritters, which sound a lot like my mom's corn cakes. Mom's can be sneaky sometimes, and we don't know it. :-)
ReplyDeleteShe got me to eat green beans by putting ketchup on them (because I liked ketchup on practically everything). Now, I love green beans even without ketchup. And she got me to eat eggs by feeding me French toast.
DeleteOh my! Sweet potato pie! Sure do love me some of that! Funny that it's not served down here in South Texas. Guess it's more of a deep South thing. Sad.
ReplyDeleteThat is strange. What's popular in South Texas, pie-wise?
