Patrick Leahy's court-packing scheme

Senator Cantaloupe thinks retired Supreme Court justices ought to be able to "pinch hit".

How about this, Aunt Pettitoes? How about if we pull you off the mound the next time there's a vote on an issue where you've taken money from some company over whose industry you have oversight responsibilities? Does that sound good to you, 'cause it sure sounds good to me.

On to victory!

Election day's comin' up, and things are getting exciting. We're on the road to a historic victory, but it won't happen without grassroots support and actual votes, so get out there!

At a time like this, I turn to Jack Burton for inspiration.

"When the federal government's spreading like a BP oil slick in the Gulf of Mexico and Democratic congressmen are showing up at your bank with a key to your safe-deposit box and Nancy Pelosi is pounding on your front door with that stupid big-ass gavel demanding that you toss out your guns, you know what Jack Burton says?

Tread on this."

Contraservatives

Correction: Conor F. writes to say that it wasn't he who went skinny-dipping with Bill Buckley - and he's right! It was Ross Douthat. Sorry, Conor.

Conor Friedersdorf – a self-styled conservative whose primary targets are conservatives, and whose main link to the conservative movement seems to be that he once went skinny-dipping with Bill Buckley – wants you to know that he’s a “senior editor” of Andrew Sullivan’s Daily Dish blog. William Jacobson of Legal Insurrection finds this surpassing, and hilariously, strange.

South of the Border

Grenade attacks in Monterrey, pirates on the Texas border. When, if ever, is this administration going to take the situation in Mexico seriously? (And, yes, that's a rhetorical question).

Kicking the week off

It's Monday! Time for a look at 21 things that look like Darth Vader.

I managed to get a shot, too...

Update: Theo Spark has a video of the event, complete with highly appropriate soundtrack.
